ARNAUD HENDRICKX
Gibellina Shinkansen Station
A high-speed train from Kobe’s Sannomiya station arrives in Gibellina, fixing a moment frozen in time. The intervention introduces a sharp contrast between the movement and speed of the Japanese station and the quiet environment of Gibellina. The static figures waiting, resting, talking, contrast with the imposing force of the train arriving at the platform. Above, a display board – an LED screen – shows what appear to be the arrival and departure times. However, the message is lost among the signs, turning into a visually intriguing and incomprehensible pattern.
